Engine shuttering really bad.

A few days ago I noticed my 22r was shuttering slightly. Only happened a couple times. Then last night I was driving home from a buddy's house and it was doing it alot, like every few seconds. It was pretty intense, like it jerked the whole truck around. Im not sure what to look at first. It feels like the engine is just crapping out for a split second at a time so Im thinking maybe the fuel pump relay or something? It doesnt seem to happen if I feather the gas pedal but as soon as I try to accelerate or maintain speed uphill it happens alot. Especially around 2 grand or slightly above. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Had this problem, okay until you get on it too much, then it bucks and carries on. On mine it was the fuel filter. I'd suggest replacing that first as its probably the cheapest part to fix.

I'd start with the fuel filter. Then check your plugs/wires/cap/rotor.

Mine did something very similar and it was the fuel filter. When you buy one, buy another and throw it in the truck so if it happens again (and it probably will) when you're far from home, you'll have it. They really like to clog.

Mine was less than 10k and a year old, I run mid-grade, and it plugged. Probably a bad tank of gas. But yeah, run them awhile on cheapy gas I'm sure they'll plug.

Did you change the filter or anything else yet? Did it do it?

Ok so I just changed the filter (the guy at the store didnt believe me when i described what it looked like and was trying to sell me an oil filter? Stupid lordco) and took the truck for a 5-10 minute drive and it bucked once at 100 km/h and then I couldnt get it to after that so Im assuming it fixed the problem although Im prretty sure there are alot of other little things going on with the engine so it may have only been part of the problem. Either way it seems to drive well now. Thanks guys for the input. Im not by any means knowledgable about engines, although I know enough so survive so this wont be the last time I post a newbie-esque thread. Pretty cheap fix though for only $2.50.

Nice! Hopefully that was it, at least for that problem.
