Difference between 20r and 22r valves?

Difference between 20r and 22r valves?
I have a 20r head on a 22r block and I picked it up from a guy, but I am unsure of what valves are in it. Is there a way I can tell by pulling the valve cover or would I need to actually see the other end of the valves to tell?
