Clutch adjustment

There is an adjustment at the clutch pedal linkage, where it goes into the master cylinder. I don't remember the exact procedure but you can probably find it if you search, or use your repair manual (a must for anyone with these trucks. get an FSM if you can).

It would be impossible for the actual pedal assembly to just come out of adjustment unless you have adjusted the pedal before or maybe a PO did. I would bleed it first. You could have air in the fluid that may be compressing just enough for the clutch to barely disengage with the flywheel when you have the pedal completely pressed but allowing it to be squishy enough to engage early when releasing the pedal. Check your flare fittings at the clutch master cylinder and the fittings on the rubber hose going to the slave cylinder to make sure everything is tight and there are no signs of leakage. Make sure that the rubber hose is in good condition too. If it is swelling then that will result in lower hydraulic pressure and could be causing your problem. If you need to replace it, Marlin or some company now offers a braided stainless slave cylinder hose now.
