The "Charge" light on the instrument cluster comes on and stays on when I start my '81 pickup. I can assume that it has something to do with charging the battery, however I'm confused why the light is coming on because the battery and alternator are both new. Is this light normal or is there something I'm missing???

check your charge lamp relay.

I have had the same problem on my old 82 I went thru 3 batteries and 4 alts before finally checking and replacing my charge lamp relay and fixed everything

 

Thanks for the info! I looked through my Haynes manual and didn't see where that relay is located, can you tell me where it is? Also where do you pick up a new relay? Auto parts? Dealer?
