call every car parts store around one of them should be able to find you one, if not buy a roll of the paper gasket remove your carb carefully and the old gasket place the old gasket on the roll trace around it and cut it out the same as the old one.

I never ran the insulator when i had my stock carb on and never had problems. I think it helps against vapor lock or something. Same with my weber now no insulator and its fine

if you do make a gasket there is a very easy trick to making them perfect.
get the appropriate gasket material ($10 give or take) and take a SMALL hammer, make sure it has the round balpine end and just lightly tap out the shape of the carb surface to be mated. i make most of my own... works awesome!

Just get it from the dealership. Honestly any time you can't find a part, that should be your next stop. It's usually my first...because honestly Toyota stuff is the best, but pricey..

The insulator comes from Toyota with gaskets already glued onto both sides. It's about 30 bucks. Worth it, I think.

The dealerships can get the insulator with gaskets glued to them for about 36 bucks. I just cleaned old insulator off and then used a clamp to hold it onto the table and gasket material I got then used a razor blade to cut out the center holes and the insulator shape. Looked as good as stock ones but were thicker.

I have a slack job so I can just go to the dealership and talk to the parts guys...I guess not everyone has time for that but it's the best way. I think my dealership here is really good, but I've heard of a lot of people having trouble with idiots at other dealerships. Anyways if you go in they can pull it up on the computer and look at it. It's called an insulator. They no longer sell just the gaskets. What is it with the dealership guys? I mean honestly, if somebody's looking for that gasket, you don't just say "we don't have it". You say "we no longer sell just the gasket, but we sell the insulator with gaskets on it". I must be really lucky here, the dealership parts guys are great.

But the truth is...the trick often is to know what you're asking for. You say one wrong word or don't use exactly the right word, and unless the part guy/girl actually is smart and/or has experience with this or that particular part, they're going to tell you it's not available.

Seriously? I just bought one 3 weeks ago. Try some of the online OEM Toyota parts places. Or if you can't find it and you really want it, I'll get it from my dealership & send it to you if you pay for it and shipping, but I wouldn't think it should come to that. Maybe I'll call them today to find out.

In case somebody searching finds this thread, this is the name & part number I have for the isulator with gaskets. I guess there's a chance that the '82 one is different, and is discontinued, but this is what Toyota has for an '83: Carburetor Insulator #21912-35050
