If I turn on my blinker it just stays on and doesn't flash and the hazards dont work. I think it is the flasher the only problem is they dont make them any more has anyone bought one from auto zone and made there own connector for it or am I stuck paying $35 for one that has been discontinued

See if you can make up the connector layout to yours. I put one in my VW and it works fine.
