Bending float tabs

If my fuel level in my sight glass is all the way up at the top, and I want it down in the middle, should I be bending the float down more? I haven't opened up a carb yet so I'm not totally sure what to expect, but I'd like to at least know which way to go with the float to lower the fuel level. Down makes sense to me but sometimes these things don't make sense...

USUALLY the tab will be bent opposite to the way you look at it.
dunno what carb your referring to. stock?

to maintain the floats at the same level but close the needle/seat sooner, the tab would be bent up = less fuel in the chamber as it cuts flow sooner

Yeah, stock carb. So bending the tabs up will equal less fuel in the bowl?
Would this help fix my stalling issue, where it will fire right up when warm, but immediately stall if I don't keep my foot on the gas? It goes away (usually) after driving it for a bit or holding on the gas for a few seconds, but often once it's warm and I try to restart it (especially when it's warm outside) it will not stay running unless I hold on the gas. The carb is a very newly rebuilt one.

Anyways, I'll pull the top off the carb and see if I can bend the tabs up a bit.

bend tab up=fuel level go down, what surf said. it's the tab that stops the fuel from coming into the bowl.

Great, thanks a lot. Hopefully I'll get around to it this weekend. I haven't been too motivated to work on the truck lately, but I'm starting to feel like I'm ready to spend some time in the garage again.

me too man, been crazy busy with I don't know what. (oh yeah, girlfriend) so the motor's been slowly worked on, one bolt at a time. although it's on the crane right now, new clutch, slugs, and all kinds of new bits.

That's a good distraction. I hope you're taking some photos? It would be nice to see some of the progress.
