I recently picked up an 81 as a rock crawler project. I’m having trouble with the charging system. I wanna do away with the external regulator and swap to an alternator with a built in regulator. I know I can swap in a GM style alternator with an aftermarket bracket but before I go that route I’d like to know if there’s an internal regulated alternator I can drop in without having to do a bracket swap. Preferably something that requires a single “exciter” wire and a single battery wire.
