Aftermarket Gauge locations

Looking for inspiration for putting in some gauges. Where has everyone mounted theirs? I’ve got a 1980 base model.

When I bought my '80 a previous owner had mounted gauges under the glove box, not very handy. I purchased a used yota gauge pod from ebay and moved the aftermarket gauges into it. I think I fabricated brackets to hold the pod in, its been 20 years ago...

I'm definitely partial to the stock location, shown in the photo. It's not easy to glance at them quickly, but you usually don't need to see them often anyway.

I ended up velcroing a tach to my steering shroud. Not very elegant, but I did use the good velcro. My PLX AFR setup has an app, so the smartphone is my AFR gauge (velcroed to steering wheel). I have PLX air intake temp and water temp sensors I'll add to this system eventually. Depending on what you're wanting to monitor, you could look for a wireless / digital option. If one isn't available now it probably will be soon.

Depending on what gauges you want, i like to see my tach while driving. Temp and oil pressure can fit below center console if you just want to glance at them every now and then.
i see people using the phone to show digital gauges to the right of the steering wheel. Seems to make sense and easy to mount.
