91 toyota on 81 4x4 frame ? ? ?
Hello
Looking to take my 91 2wd body and putting it on a 81 4x4 frame, what issues should i be concerned about? i am taking the 22re with it and all the electronics, changing gas tank as well for EFI set-up. will all the body mounts match up?
thanks

The body mounts will not line up. Someone recently did this on pirate4x4, he had to move almost every mount. You will have to fab up brackets for the Gas tank i think its bigger then the stock one in the 81.

if your '91 is a short bed the tank should not be too much of a problem.
do you know how to weld?
I would review this FAQ, it has frame dimensions etc: http://pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=459180

Yes i have a welder and yes the 91 is a short box, would it be easier to change the 2WD to a 4x4 rather than moving over bodies? frame the same for
previsions or areas to weld on spring perches?

I would just convert the 91 to 4x4, Its not that hard, You already have the 81 Drivetrain, Go to skymanufacturing and Get their spring hanger kit. You will have to cut out a hole for the second shifter. Ive done a 2WD-4WD Conversion before. Not much different then a solid axle swap. Post up some pictures so i know what your workin with

Should I just need this part from them..
http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/new...uct.php?id=194
This is the front and rear end end of the 80...(or perhaps use everything out of the 85, which is better to use? if anything
Or all from the 85
and installing it all onto this truck...
