85 into 80?

Engine and transmission? No, won't bolt right in, but it won't take many modifications. Unless the 85 is fuel injected...
If it's a carbed engine it will be much easier. The transmission out of the 85 is longer than yours, so it would require driveshaft mods, and possibly cutting the floorboards of your cab a little bit, since the shifters are supposedly a bit farther back.
The 85 engine should bolt right up to your current transmission, though.
Now...petrol means gas, not deisel, right?...

Ok good. Yeah as far as I know, any year 22R/E will bolt up to any transmission that came with a 22R/E. I think the engine will bolt right up to the mounts in your truck. But if the 85 is an RE, then you need the whole computer and wiring harness, along with the gas tank, fuel pump and probably lots of other stuff. If it's an R, then it should pretty much bolt right up.
If you have someone who can shorten the rear d-shaft and lengthen the front, then you're halfway there as far as getting the tranny to fit. Then I've heard you need to move the t-case crossmember back a bit (again the longer tranny). There seems to be very little in the way of write-ups on this. Everybody "knows" that the tranny is longer and so the d-shafts need mods, x-member must be moved back, floorboards cut a little, but I've never seen a write-up with photos, and I'm not positive anyone has ever posted saying "I've done this and here's what you need to do"...
So that's just my disclaimer that I'm only telling you what I've read over and over, I have no personal experience with it. It can't be too hard, though, if you've got some skilled people, so try it out and take photos and do a write-up for us!
