the charge and battery light are staying on. for the last 10 years when u ease of the brake the 2 lights would flicker and i could here a relay clicking under the passenger side dash.

Is there a relay under there? or do i have a bad alt?

I would pull the alternator and have it checked, and then go from there. I think your truck has an external voltage regulator, those can go bad as well and cause charging problems.

 

There is usually a charge light relay up under the dash. They can go bad, cuasing the light to stay on, even though the alternator is still charging. They are inexpensive to replace.

 

when you say "inexpensive" how inexpensive do you mean? i need one of these and haven't found one very reasonable yet
