82 pickup radiator question

I have an 82 with a 2.4l 22r 2wd.I am swapping out radiators due to a bad leak and I'm wondering what the second smaller pipe goes to which is connected to the lower spout on the radiator. There is a hose that connects to it and leads into the firewall can someone tell me what it is?

I bought the car from my girlfriends dad and he bought the radiator and gave it to me with it...the thing is it's for a 4wd so it doesn't have the smaller pipe on the spout for that heater tube.....can I just block the tube off and not worry about it?

The heater pipe connection on a 4x4 is not on the radiator. There is a small pipe that is connected to the center of the cylinder head on the passenger side-Feed to the heater control valve. There is a large pipe with a small inlet pipe on the driver's side. The lower radiator hose connects to the large pipe with the small inlet pipe, then a second radiator hose connects from this same large pipe with the small inlet pipe to the water pump inlet. The return heater hose from the firewall is connected to the small inlet pipe on the large pipe. The only connection for a small hose on the radiator is the overflow bottle hose connection located on the fill neck.
