'82 hit bump, instant bogging????

Hello all, my name is Jake and I'm new to YT and to toyotas, kinda.

What I drive :
1982 Toyota Pickup
22r 5spd
123,xxx ORIGINAL miles ( motor and chassis)
4x4 31" street~ish tires on 15x10 steelies.
Flowmaster dual tipped exhaust.

Ok, so here's my problem. The other day I was driving home from work and I tried to take a back way ( to miss traffic) On the road I went over a bad a$$ railroad track at 35mph. The truck bounced a bit and as soon as it happened.... the truck started bogging almost instantly.

It only wants to run semi-decent above 2500rpm and if I try and roll from a dead stop, i.e. stop sign/light. I have to feather the clutch and gas ALOT to get it to roll at all without stalling. Basically I have to rev it to about 3k and pop the clutch. It only bogs really when I lightly/slightly moderatly press the gas. If I floor ( which I rarely ever do) it then it doesnt bog much at all.

I've searched and searched for possible problems. I have changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, as well as, check fuel lines for clogs, and drained the gas tank looking for debris of any kind. I also checked the diaphram thing on the motor side of the carburator to make sure it wasnt cracked/busted. Checked all connections and vacuum lines, and checked for vacuum leaks....I checked timing and it was at 8*~ish

I only found 1
*** I did notice that my EGR bolts by the carb were loose. So, I tightened them up.... It seemed to fix the problem, or made it less noticable... For only about 10 min, then it started bogging at low throttle again. =/

I also noticed that it smells rich while at idle. It cranks fine and idles fine too. I haven't notice any smoke of any kind and I was getting 20mpg + on average with a stock carb.

I've checked everything I can think of without getting into the mechanical workings of the carb ( I dont know much about them and if something is mislodged and/or it falls out then I might not have any idea what went where)

So, I'm asking for some imput from some Yota experts.
Help is greatly appreciated.

Basically I've done every thing i can think of.
Thanks

sometimes a big "bump" like you described , will "shake up" the float bowl .. and sending it into the needle and seat .. you may have debris in the carb

Yea, I read about that too. I dont really want to ter apart the carb until i get a new one ( just in case).. My uncle is a HUGE Weber distributor so I'm trying to get a deal on the 32/36 DGEV conversion he has.

Thanks for the reply.

This exact thing happened to my 82, was up on the mountain when i hit a bump and instant bogging. So i cranked up the idle adjustment to get me home. Rebuild the carb and it seemed to have fixed it. If you need a vacuum diagram for an 82 let me know-- itll make puting everything back together much easier

Thanks for the reply. I went and bought a rebuild kit, rebuilt it and it went away! I still never noticed any one thing that could have been a problem tho ???? I guess it's just one of those "mysteries" of life lol
