82/83 Blower Fan Speed Switch - how attached to dash?
I'm a pround new papa of an '83 rn44. The baby needs some serious love. I have a cracked up lower dash (seems to be a mucho common problem) and the blower fan speed control knob was missing; picked up a used one but I'm wondering what exactly holds the control to the dash? There is a threaded post that the knob attaches to but I think it's missing a switch nut. Does anybody know how the threaded post is supposed to secure to the dash? Is it a nut? If so, what are the replacement specs for the nut? thread, diam, etc. Or does anyone have a part number for the replacement? Pics and advice would be very welcome. Thx!

I believe the knob itself just presses on. If you got the entire fan speed switch then that will take some more figuring out. You'd likely have to remove the entire "climate control" unit.

Going from memory so I will try to get close.
First remove the bezel, then the knob will pull off, there is a retaining nut that holds the switch in and the climate face plate on. Remove the face plate and there are two screws on the left that hold the rest of the heater assembly to the dash.
Hope this helps, and I might have a nut around somewhere. I will check later
