Wheel prep and paint

IMHO, I would suggest sandblasting those suckers and using lacquer from a rattle can (prime, base, and clearcoat). I did the stock rims on my 91 that way about 8 years ago and still haven't even got a chip in them. I ended up giving them to a buddy who was having hard times a few years ago, he put them on his Dodge Ram Custom 50, the rims still look great. Sometimes I regret letting them go but it helped my bud get himself through college and now he's on his feet. Who knows maybe they'll come back my way some day. On a side note, I'm looking for one more stock rim for my 83 for the spare, If anybody has one in good shape that they wouldn't mind parting with.

Looks good. 31x9.50?
If you like the stock retro look, go with white for the rims, I think it will look really good. I got aftermarket black rims for my truck and I really like them, but there's definitely something about the stock look that I really like. Up to you.

The black will make the tire look bigger, you cant tell where the tire ends and the wheel stats, and the black looks tougher. x2 on rattle primer, rattle enamel, and rattle clear. You can go with flat semi, or gloss clear to determine the shinyness. Semi will look sweet on that truck, it will just about match the tire shine.

Mine look to be semi to flat. The previous owner did it. Just crappy rattle can job. I already scraped the lip all up. I kind of like the gloss look, but you see all the flaws and can tell if you do a bad paint job.

i thought the nitrogen weighed less..and somehow gave the tires less rolling resistance therefore getting better gas mileage...my uncle runs them in his 2005 dodge diesel (longbed,4door, 2wd) he pulls a MASSIVE 5th wheel...and he gets about 3-4 mpg's more than he does if he uses air...and without the 5th wheel on it...he gets over 24...OVER 24 MPGS...with over 300hp and over 600lb ft of torque..thats amazing..lol..and it IS the nitrogen that does it too...cuz we've sucked allt he nitrogen out of the tires..(using a special vacuum) and put just regular air..and he gets 20-22 mpgs (all the driving conditions are the same)...if there was a place around here to put them in my swampers then i would try it...but idk of anywhere..
