81 Hilux SR5 odometer issue

I bought an '81 4wd SR5 off of someone and the odometer doesn't work. I personally don't care but the shop that put the rebuilt motor in does. I took the instrument panel out and took the speedo/odometer out. The gears seem to be operating correctly but in wheelie Pete's video on YouTube there was a pin that ran across the "clips" on the number dials so that they stay in place. Otherwise, according to him, the odometer will not work. Is anyone else familiar with this? Am I missing a part on it?

I think the previous owner might have tried to tamper with it and messed up.

Here is the link that I followed when I repaired my odometer. It's fairly easy to do.

I know the odometer in the pictures is from a Cruiser, but it's virtually identical. Basically, the grease in the gears has dried up and needs to be cleaned out and new grease applied. Just be careful when you're taking it apart. Be sure to place everything in proper order, etc.

Ok, apparently I'm unable to post links from other forums. Let me try to message you the link.
