i just bought this truck. when i have it in 4low and i go to shift from 1st to 2nd the stick grabs the transfercase stick and pulls it into neutral. other than holding both sticks when i shift i cant make it to 2nd. any suggestions thanx.

 

Either the t-case shifter is on backwards, or you need a new shifter seat & socket for the tranny. Is there a lot of slop in the shifter? I know some people just deal with it by getting a different tranny shifter that just doesn't hit the t-case shifter. The Marlin site isn't coming up for me right now or I'd post links...but if you go to the Marlin Crawler site, you'll find the shifter seat and socket for your tranny. It makes a big difference. Do you have an L50, L52, or newer tranny? Off the top of my head I don't think 81's came with a 5 speed, so make sure you find out what you've got before you buy anything. Probably somebody swapped in a 5 speed on your truck at some point.
