81 2WD pickup

so i now own a 2wd toyota. (my first one) (it was free) lol

but anyhow i put in some new speakers and a new deck and it worked great. until i dropped my buddy off and back home. when i shut my truck completely off my charge light came on. (but was off when running).

so i spent a few hours trying to figure out if i shorted a wire or something i shouldnt have done. but no luck. so i checked voltage at the battery. only 9 volts. so i replaced the alternator and my charge lught problem went out.

ive never had this happen before. is this normal?

thats normal mine does that... when I put the key in my brake and charge light come one but go off when I start the truck... if your not sure let the truck run and use a multi meter to make sure the battery is sitting at about 14volts
