Well, researched a little more and came across this search. What do you guys make of it?
Please Note: Any test records sent during the day will not be displayed until after midnight.

This will not affect the transmission of electronic smog certificates to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) for registration purposes.

Select Either License Plate or VIN then enter the value of the License Plate or VIN.

**Note: "Display of both the VIN and plate number has been removed due to privacy concerns. Therefore, this information will not be reported back in the 'Vehicle Test History Report'. You may continue to look up a vehicle's test history using either the VIN or the plate number. However, the Bureau recommends using the VIN to obtain the most accurate results as a vehicle's plate number may change."

That it can pass at 3:25 pm, but not around 4:20 or 1:45. Your pickup is a pothead!

Ok, I'll stop being such a jerk. Is there such a thing as a smog pretest? I think we need to know it's status as to why it failed before we just start swapping parts that aren't necessary.

Haha, remember how heavy that cat was I took off the '83? A new one would probably help plenty

It could have been replaced pre 98, no one knows, besides, a new cat will always lower emisions.

Alright, cat took care of hc, co is still high. Max allowable 1.70%, trucks at 5.60%, timing was at 9*, advance off, put it to 0* advance off. Going to try to smog now. Hope it passes.

Well, timing change brought co down to 4.17%. Still rich though. Ordered a carb kit today, going to rebuild tomorrow. Also, no one lists a factory style mechanical pump for this localy, only electric. It has an electric on there now with a regulator, wierd regulator though, german writing, adjusts like a steering box, jam nut with a slotted center. Eh. Hopefully rebuild brings it back down to what it should be.

Heres a thought. As I layed in bed last night, I was thinking about the L diesel. I know its underpowered, a turbo will fix that. But, if I swap the engine, I will have smog exempt status. Only issue, I cant find a used one with harness. If anyone knows of a website that I could track one down on, that would be awesone. I think it would be fun and interesting to build one with some oomph.

Update. Carb rebuilt, runs a lot better, exhaust is still heavy bodied, but doesn't stink like before, its a little more responsive. Tomorrow will be echaust leak and maybe a second round of seafoam.
