5speed from 94 2wd mounted to 20r?

I have a 94 22re 2wd w/5speed. Blew up the engine and am in the process of installing a 7mgte w/ auto. My friend said he would be interested in buying my 5speed if it would mount up to his 20r which is in a 78 4wd. Will it work?

Thanks,
Russ Walkup

I swapped an ifs 5speed into my 82 4x4 mine is a 22r but the bolt pattern is the same. If you can get the tranfer case and tailshaft as well as the late model driveshafts it SHOULD work. I had to fab a new crossmember and redrill the front axle flange. I will try to post some pics next time im messing with the truck.

i'm not sure about the length differences between the 2wd trannies, so you may have to relocate the crossmember and/or rework/replace the driveshaft, but it most certainly will bolt to a 20R.
