4WD Spindle-Hub seal deformation.
So I go to put my spindle back on th' knuckle, like ya do after a full front hub-birfield repack, and that brass-colored dust seal flange that bolts on with the spindle gets all deformed when I torque the bolts down to 32fp, as per Haines.
What gives? How did I mess this up? Did I put too much RTV on the subject? (Didn't think you could use too much RTV)

Thanks, y'all. Dunno what I did before I found yotatech.

Well, I put it on the way it came off, with the edge of the seal pointing outward, and there is no way that one can line up the bolt holes incorrectly as they are very a-symetrical (the two on the bottom being spaced much wider than the others).
With further cogitation, I am leaning towards the idea that I packed the thing with too much RTV. The seal plate is, after all only sheet metal, and it goes right up against a hard metal flange on it's inside edge, thus leaving no place for the RTV to spooge out. Being the cheap a**ed b****rd that I am, I'm thinkin' of trying to take the thing off and hammer it flat as I can and starting over with way less RTV.
Y'all can tell if that sounds like crock or not...
