Question Are 22r rod/main bearings different sizes?

My son and I are rebuilding a 22r engine. (83 4X4). My brother in law who has some mechanical background is helping (supervising) and says that the rod or main bearings look like they are different sizes.? I know that they can be oversized to compensate for crank wear, but he says that they look to be standard thickness, but still different sizes. Is this true? Also if I get new bearing sets, will they come in the correct sizes if this is true, or will the standard size be "close enough". Sorry for the long post, but I want to get parts ordered and get this done before the cold gets here. Thanks for any info.

the rod and main bearings are most definitely different sizes from each other! you can tell right away if bearings are over/undersized, look at the outer face of the shell(the part that goes toward the block or rod), it'll usually have a manufacturer's logo or letters, and numbers like .020 for a .020" undersize rod bearing.

the only time you need to don't need to order standard bearing sizes is when the crank has been machined due to a spun rod bearing or general wear. have your machinist measure the journals and he can tell you exactly what you need to buy.

Kyle, you have a PM from me.

My first search came up with nothing, then I found where Kyle put all standard sizes in even though different letters were stamped on the original bearings. Anyone else do the same thing? Any problems or did it work out? Thanks for the help. We are trying to get this thing running before the end of Oct.
