20r won't cold start...

So my 20r won't start in the mornings without throwing a small amount of gas down it. Supposedly the guy before me rebuilt it but I don't think he did it right. What are the first few things I should check? Also will 22r carbs fit on a 20r? Thanks again.

first off ... NO .. 22r carb wont fit with out some sort of adapter .

check to see if the choke is opening , it does exactly what you are doing (dumps in gas) in cold weather .

I got a LC engineering 22r carb to 20r manifold adaptor or sale.... just pm with offer. I just threw on a weber 38 so i have no use for it. Also have a 22r carb that needs a rebuild but works for cheap but shipping from up here is $$

Alright, so it is my choke that is not closing all the way, also my throttle is getting stuck at too high of rpm, but when i mess with it by hand I can get it to drop down to a normal speed. Is there somewhere I can look to learn about choke/throttle adjustment? There's too many little parts for me to just figure out. Thanks.

Here's some more specific details:

When the engine is cold I put some starter fluid in the carb and it starts right up, and idles high for about 1 minute and kicks itself down into a low idle. After a few more minutes (5 or more) it starts idling high again and will not stop for as long as you run the engine. Also I have tried to close the choke by hand before starting the engine (after pushing petal once to the floor even) and cannot close the choke, it sits at about 80% closed but will not close all the way, but I have been able to close it by hand two times in the past few days but am not sure why it randomly let me. Does anyone have any pictures of how the linkage back there is supposed to look or anything? I am not sure if mine is hooked up right and I just bought the truck so someone else may have forgot a part or hooked it up wrong.

I bought a used carb off an auto parts place yesterday and it does not look like mine. The one I got looks like this:
http://www.autozone.com/R,2134171/ve...ductDetail.htm
This one has 2 barrels but only one can open and close, the other barrel has no piece to even close the barrel on it.

Mine looks like this:
http://www.autozone.com/R,669356/veh...ductDetail.htm

Mine has flaps to close both barrels. I cannot hook that other carb up being the hoses and parts on it are different. Is there somewhere on my carb that has a part number so I can get the right one if I cannot resolve the choke issues on mine? Sorry for the long post, I just really want to fix this. Thanks.
