What if the radiator slammed into the fan, bending the little pulley system in the water pump. Damage beyond the pump?

buy some new pistons for your engine. these motors r dirt cheap to rebuild. and if u know what ur doing u can get some nice power out of them. or get a 22r block and bore it 80 over and put ur 20r head on it. then it would be over a 2.7 liter 20r. u would be happy with that trust me!

I've never rebuilt an engine and I doubt it is as easy as it sounds.
The power loss has only really been noticeable over the last monthish. I'm not burning or using any oil. Not even a leak. Just seems so strange that it has been happening so fast. It has been such a good strong pickup up until this point.

very easy. way under a grand to rebuild the whole motor.u can keep ur stock crank,rods,they are the same as a 22r block if u want a 22r block. u just need pistons and have the block bore and honed, new timing and have some one grind ur vavles. medford is a ways from me in from portland,

I have a 1980 Toy 20R 4x4. Just got it a few weeks ago and love it! It ran ok until a couple days ago then I noticed a loss of power. Maxed out 30mph in 3rd gear and had to use 4low to get up the hill to my house. Checked the plugs and it looked as if only 2 of them were firing and checked the gap. Checked the distributer and vacuume advance. Fired it back up and now I have full power. At higher RPM it will miss just a bit sometimes. Any Ideas?
one recommendation I read on toyotaminis is to replace all vacuum hoses.. I plan on doing this myself in the next few weeks. clean/rebuild carb?

I'm in medford oregon as well. 
Well if you end up getting rid of it for cheap I may be interested in taking it in. Let me know if I can help any, I am not a great mechanic though.

Ok....put on a new rebuilt carb, intake manifold gasket, timing chain cover gasket, fuel pump, plugs, oil change, and tuned it. Runs great! Awesome compression. There is hope for old trucks. Thanks for all the imput.
