20R/22R Questions
Okay, so I finally got my pre '78 20R out of my 2WD to prep it for install into my 4WD and now that it's getting down to the nitty gritty the questions start popping up. I need an oil pan and sump for the 20R otherwise the differential will smash a 2WD pan, will a 22R's Pan and sump bolt up ok? I have a ton of 22R parts kicking around and I'd love to put them to use on this engine. I also had to get the "cable" throttle for my carb, because I had the direct rod type on it previously, so I ripped that outta the junkyard. Will a 22R Valve cover work on a 20R? I've got one of those too and it's got all the nice shiny mounts I need for the carb. Oh and if anyone has a 79-80 Driver side light door please send it to me. I can't find one anywhere.

the 20R and '81-84 22R are interchangeable except for the pistons, block, and intake manifold/carb
if it's a '78 it wont have the mechanical fuel pump boss or the power steering mounts on the head, but other than that, drops in. oilpans and pickups are an easy swap, i'd recommend using a bead of gray RTV instead of an oil leaking cork gasket.

Thanks Kyle, I've got something to do today now!!! I've also got a 22R block laying around that I'm going to team up with my early 20R head in the near future, but for now I just wanna get this truck running. I'm just going to clean it up a little as soon as the beast is running and out of my garage, things are a little crowded in there right now
I've also got to make some sort of bracket for the throttle cable attatchment. The old carb still has the old style throttle with the rods and not the cable. It DOESN'T bolt on. I have to make a flat piece of metal about 3 inches long and put a hole in ot and bolt it to the intake manifold and then mount the throttle piece onto it.
