2 in shackle lift

I have a 1980 Toyota and I think it has a stock lift with 30 x9.5 and I was wondering with the front drive line, if I install 2 in longer shackles to the front do I have to extend the front drive line because of the angle difference?

No, stock driveline length is good up to about 4" of lift, maybe more. Angle diff can be corrected with shims as well.

I would not go more than 3" lift on a stock d/s.
shims can only correct up to a certain point before it impacts the angle of the knuckle balls

My OME lift would damn near use up all the travel of the stock shaft.

2" lift shackle will point pinion "down" some = crummy angle on your u-joints and possible align issues. Add a shim to bring the pinion back to "level" and you should be good to go. Ran with that setup for quite a few years and had no driveline issues. I would recomend a drop drag link to go with it or your steering would be spooky.

OME Med. duty front replacement

I am new to yotas. I am replaacing the front leaf springs (med. duty) on my 83 4x4 long bed SR5

-I want a softer ride for my daily drive and to and want to know if i should get soft duty shocks or mediam duty???

-what do people do for lengthening the torsion bar long bolt to the axel?? what I have dose not look right to me see pic (one side is still loose)

-I am pertty sure there is no left or right medium duty leaf springs??? one spring had a "0" and the other spring had a "1" painted on the leaf spring see pic

-is it necessary to do the rear as well? I so far I have only ordered the front setup. old springs were original and had a negitive arch.
