1983 Truck 4WD Deluxe will not start
Hey all,
My truck sat for about a month. It's wintertime in Longmont where I live, and she just won't go...
I removed the ignition coil master wire that goes from the igniter to the center plug on the distributor cap, and I thought that might be the culprit.
INFO:
1983 Hilux RN38 4WD Deluxe
JT4RN38D2D006xxxx
Built 23 December 1982
Engine rebuilt 5900 miles ago, bored .020 over.
Using a POS 35W alternator from NAPA that fried my voltage regulator
but it still works!
Any advice?
The truck fired once and was about to start... I've already tried spraying diethyl ether and carb cleaner into the float bowl to no avail.
Need some help here... about to pull my hair out.

"Fired once and was about to start"? Explain more. To me "firing" means it started. Cranking but not starting I understanding. Does it crank? Does anything at all happen when you turn the key? Explain exactly what's going on and to help narrow it down and we can help better!
Your voltage regulator is fried? How's your battery?
When my trucked cranked and cranked and cranked but never started, it was my ignitor. Before finally figuring that out I replaced coil, wires, distributer.

I wonder if you had a bit of water in your gas that has now turned into ice? If so put a can of Dry Gas in it. It will help. And instead of replacement toyota ignitor which is expensive change it over to a GM. Watch out for Napa parts.lots of Junk. They do have some good parts. But not the distributer or CARB. If you need a rebuilt carb then National CARB is about the best. The old rubber in carbs and fuel lines does not like the modern gas additives and eats them up.
