1983 Toyota 4x4 Pickup - Long bed

I recently purchased a 1983 Toyota pickup. It has lots of body rust, but the bones are sound and it runs and drives great! Everything works on the truck except the radio and cabin light. It is all stock with the original 22R engine and 5-speed transmission. The odometer stopped at 101,300, but I'm guessing it has closer to 200,000 on it. Quick questions for the Yotatech brain trust -- would this be considered an SR5?

Good looking truck and congrats!!!
To answer your question, no, it doesn’t look like an SR5. Not enough chrome

Thanks, Groundpounder1. So, I'm guessing I have the base model?

not necessarily. I think the most common model was the deluxe. That’s what I have. What options does your truck have? Power steering, AC, etc? That is what is more important anyway. My truck is a deluxe and it didn’t come with power steering or ac. I’m planning to add both

No AC, but it does have power steering.

Do you have wood grain dash panels or a gauge pod below the center air vent?

I would think it is a Deluxe model, with a power steering option from the dealership. Write down the VIN number of the tag on the firewall above the engine, and go online to a VIN decoder program and you may find a build sheet for your truck. I found mine under the driver seat in the springs, lucky I guess. My truck was assembled in Long Beach.

From what I've read, power steering was an option. Mine was assembled in Long Beach, too. There's a sticker on the bed where it meets the cab stating so. Numbers on the sticker read 83 Z - 08311. Anyone know how to decode those numbers?

Went online, plugged in the VIN -- confirmed the truck is the Deluxe model. Thanks for your help!

Power steering is a very desirable option! Power steering was a stand alone option and even some SR5s lack this. The original uncut dash and original radio is also a major plus.

Thank you for the input! I'm still amazed how nice the truck drives. They knew what they were doing 30 plus years ago!
