Unless it's a 2wd? Were they under the axle?

someone must have gone to a hell of a lot of effort to lower it if they're not already under the axle...

Yeah I suppose somebody could have decided they wanted to lower it, so we should be easy on you.

Stock 4wd Toyotas are sprung over. If yours is not, then somebody messed with it. So the pros would be: that is how it should be stock, so it will handle and sit the way that it is supposed to. Ride hight will be stock.

cons....I don't know. Unless you like the height it's at.

the pre 79 toyota's that were converted to 4wd were all spring under..and usually had 5lug axles..not 6lugs...is it possible he has an 83 body with say a 77 or 78 chassis and suspension???

Just about anything's possible. Looks like he'll need to come back and post more specifics.

I hope we didn't scare him away. But like you guys have said, the 2wd's are sprung under. He must be talking about a 2wd. Didn't actually know that until today when I did some work on my buddies '83 2wd. Crazy little rat rod.
