QUOTE=kawazx636;52178111]I'd wait until you get that Weber installed. Trying to chase down the gremlins in an Aisin carb is such a headache. I've worked on tons of carbs before and none were as much of a pain in the ass as an Aisin. Are you going to desmog?[/QUOTE]

Ijust wanted to let you know it was because of your post on your Desmog tutorial I decided to clean up under the hood and have been looking into modifications myselfso thank you very much you are a genius at what you do and I wanted your opinion on my rear window break light creation.

So the carb was incorrect, the dude had pictures on his ad from Google, so now I'm desmogging my stock carb. As of now the truck is setup as Canadian emissions. I need to figure out where to hook up my diaphragm on my idle-up diaphragm. It isn't on any of the vacuum diagrams I have but it is shown in the fsm. Unfortunately it only shows it in the exploded diagram of the carb and not where the vacuum lines go. Before someone asks, it wasn't hooked up before so I have no reference.

Okay, so it all running on Canadian emissions now. I connected the idle up diaphram to my vacuum advance also. I've got it running pretty well, but I'm having some power loss around 2200-3000 rpms being felt mostly in 3rd and 4the gears. I'm assuming this will be a carb adjustment issue.

That's what I used too, but it doesn't show my idle up diaphragm on the diagram. I don't have a fast idle screw, but a vacuum diaphragm in it's place.

This one on the passenger side of the carb.

Wow that's crazy. I have never seen that before. Your sure that's the right carb for the 22R? Doesn't seem like it is too me. Put up some more pictures of the carb.

So after deleting all of the emissions equipment, it runs much better, but still not right. Plumbing that idle up diaphragm to my vac advance made a big difference too.

Okay, so the stumbling and backfiring have started again, but the erratic idle is gone. I'm going to try to adjust my valves, check my timing again, plugs, and see if I can make that weber carb work. It should, but all of my adjustments will be on the valve cover side.

Okay, so it has been a while, but the truck bucks and cuts out a bit in third mostly, but fourth gear too. It jerks the whole truck and seems to be right as I shift up or WOT any ideas?

Glad to see your post. I'm just finishing a 22r rebuild and I'm omiting smog equipment. I'm going to be using the stock aisin carb. Did you follow this 83 canadian diagram exactly? Do you know what the AAP and CB are?

This is the one I had marked as Canadian. Working perfectly for me on an '83 50 state truck.
