Hey all, I don't think I've posted here before but I do lurk occasionally. A while back I bought an 82 2wd truck and has been kind of a headache of a project. I love the thing but I guess I'm learning as I go. so the first thing I learned about this thing is that instead of the original 22r that would be in this year model, it has a long block or the later model 22r I suppose which I learned by the shape of the exhaust ports. I want to bust into getting the transmission a little less sloppy. I'm not really sure how to identify it, other than it's a 5 speed. would the later 22r bolt directly on to whatever 5spd would have been available in 82? do all the 5spd 22r transmissions use the same clutch? what about shifter bushings? also maybe how would I be able to identify which transmission I have? sorry for the long post but yall are really the only ones I can think to ask. thanks

I think most of them use the same shifter bushing and they're easy to swap out.
