1982 22R issues - idle/stutter, brake light
#1
My 1982 pickup has been running a little rough lately. i'm able to drive it but the main issues are:
1. when i start and let the truck warm up, once it's warm and approaches idle, it isn't able to hold the idle and dies.
I am actually able to drive it around as long as i keep my foot lightly on the gas so it is more than idling, otherwise it stops running... mostly when i come to a stop light.
when i am driving around it also putters/stutters like maybe there is some sort of misfire? the truck seems to have less power and is less responsive than usual and will get sudden bursts of acceleration/deceleration.
what may or may not be extra odd is this happens most of the time when i drive, but not all the time and i cannot figure out why... maybe the weather?!
When i started it up yesterday i noticed a clicking sound near the ignition coil after popping the hood before going into work. but then of course, the truck drove without the idle/stuttering problems on my way home to work and when my friend came over to help me inspect my car.
this morning it started again but with no clicking and the idle problems continue.
my friend thinks its
2. what has happened only in the last week is the BRAKE light on the dash stays on after i take the e-brake off.
i figured it was sticking, but, when i engage the e-brake i can see another light come on. Are there 2 lights behind the brake light?
this also seems to go off when my car is not having the above-mentioned idling issues.

On the 85 at least I believe the brake light comes on with the charge light when there is a charging issue. I once had a problem when my battery was on its way out...I could push start my truck and it would run OK until I turned the headlights on, then it would die. Since it is relatively easy, you might hit a parts store and have your battery and alternator checked. Other than that I've had most of thise symptoms with a clogged catalytic converter, which can clog and unclog itself, leading to inconsistent symptoms. Best check for that is to thump it with your palm. If you hear a bunch of stuff rattling around in there, might be the problem. I don't have experience with Amazon ignition module, but I will be trying to source an oem one or switching to an aftermarket ignition system if mine ever fails again. As far as I know, only Toyota ever got that part right. With that said, my experience has been the ignition module either works or doesn't. There hasn't been any in between in my experience.

brake light was a warning that my brake fluid was low... i didn't realize there was a sensor for that.
i replaced the ignition coil but the problem continues.
i just ordered an Ignition Module since there was some clicking there. i'll post when i switch them out.
