trans out - heavy booger, ordered aisin kit, replaced release bearing, will do pilot - cleaning trans now - will resurface per above and get balanced.

One Q:

Re: rear main seal comment above; where is that? Lots of gunk/leakage(?) where front drive shaft meets trans.

rear main seal is usually referring to the rear main seal of the crankshaft (you would find it behind your clutch.

the gunk you see where the drive shaft looks like someone getting a little enthusiastic when lubing the u-joints and slip joint and it building up over the years

transfer case shifter bushing?

Update & Question for the brain trust: Trans back in & following through with connections - Question ion: Is there a transfer case shifter bushing for this getup? I saw no evidence of any but I saw a few references in models - I'm still looking into;

This url says it needs one: https://core-shifters.com/products/t...nt=14623531206
I don't think it needs one -

Update - ugh

All is in place but clutch is real spongy even after bleeding several times - no apparent leaks from previously replaced master & slave. Slave pushrod is adjusted w/ 1/8" freeplay and is pushing the clutch fork - started engine with truck still on the jackstands and clutch shifts fine but won't engage (not able to shift into reverse - grinding) ...crap....someone w/ lots more expertise is going to drop by and look things over.

Hmmm

Looked at my pedal and some other clutch pedal pics and noticed my return spring was not in place - and the nut on rod to Master Cyl out of sight in pic was real loose and caused play - will adjust and see if I can keep my Man card...

Gimme back my Man card...

Adjusted the clutch pedal per issues above AND took the truck out of H2 (must have knocked it into gear) and took her for a drive - appears to be running like it should. Now on to some body stuff - replace newly painted shields shields underneath & note I took front valence(?) off and replacement is ready for paint then shocks & front springs etc etc...feels good & thanks for helpful expertise from all above -
