it would make a good truck to hual wood.. put a lift gate on the back.. with a stake bed.. convert that 1ton to a 4x4 4x4 rv's are extremly rare to see... it would be worth the conversion..

The RV part is unusable, so I figured I would do something like that with the rest of it. I was kind of thinking of putting an old Uhaul box on it. The main problem after tearing down the RV is that the cab is cut on both the rear and the top. That is why I want to sell all of the interior. There is no use having an excellent interior with no roof. RVs built on a Toyota 4x4 are really rare. I saw one driving through town a while back, it was pretty cool.

Finally got Pics!

According to the people at Toyota -Japan they have no record that this was a factory limited edition. I checked with friends at mid-atlantic and southeast Toyota sales regions and they had never seen these before. Still, you guys are really lucky to have these vehicles. I wish I could have purchased the Ivan Stewart model. Question, when you say very low VIN# are you referring to the trucks actual VIN# or the limited edition emblem plate # ? If you send me more particulars about your trucks I would like to help you research things about them. I have the historys on all my vehicles, I really like researching stuff about automobiles.
Sorry for the delay, here's what happened:

I get busy at work whenever it snows.

As promised, detail pics:

Let me know what you think.

I think we have something very cool! I have one just like it. I'll have some pics later today! Yours looks better shape than mine. Mine is also in pieces, frame was gone and so was the box. I got mine free with a 80 toyota i bought from a guy in town. When he showed up he had two trucks. He didnt tell me the truck came with a parts truck. By my surprise the parts truck was a 1979 limited edition VIN # RN37000120. WOW!! the 120th 4x4 pickup toyota made. I drove it the parts truck around the block ( very scared because of the frame) just to see if everything worked. That was 1989 its been parked since. Next year i will stick lots of money in to it. My kid will be 18.AAAHHHH!!!!

Interesting that yours is the same color as mine. I wonder if they all were orange, or if they came in different colors? Also, does yours have a badge on the drivers side "B" pillar, with the LTD Edition number? It interests me that your truck is RN37-000150 and mine is RN37-001011, but mine says that it is limited edition #123 / 1089. The reason this is so interesting to me is that there is obviously more than 122 vehicles between 0150 and 1011. If my understanding of the old VIN system is correct, your truck may be actually the 150'th truck total (not just 4x4) that Toyota made that year. If not, it may be that there were several LTD edition packages offered early in 79.

Good deal, thanks. I'll let you know when I get it ripped apart a little more. Not to hijack the thread, but did you get the offroad light thing figured out?

well i havent tried it yet, but i think im gonna use a foot switch to turn on everything at once instead of trying to wire it into the light switch. i think it will be much easier that way. hopefully it all works out

Well, its # 120 and i think that they were made red,and blue for sure as i have kept the tags from a blue toy vin #720 (junked already). Mine has power steering, tach, oil and charge gauge, tilt steering, buckets seats and has a pocket in drivers door. Black and gray interior. Mine did not have a badge on the piller. I'm wondering if its limited edition right from the factory. I would almost assume so. I'll get some pics of my 80 on tommorrow. I love to find out about these trucks and its very nice to talk to people who love thier trucks like i do!!!! GO TOYOTA!!!! I've been a fan since 1985 when my buddy took me for a ride in one. Been hooked since even when it was'nt cool (jap crap days). I believe i showed them what they can do, when i out did them they had nothing to say. Now they think the different, can't say much about the number 1 car company in the world!

i had a 1982 toyota pickup deluxe 2wd 5 spd.. sold it for 300 bucks to on of my buddies

so i picked up my 1990 nothing special 2wd 4spd toyota pickup for old 600.00 bucks had a blown head gasket when i got it and after further investagtion it was going to need alot more attention so i found a cheap quick fix with a used engine for 250.00 bucks engine had under 100k so i couldnt complain..

just need a tailgate and a radio and some speakers and i will be set.
other than that truck is stock... sure isnt no 79 4x4
