1978 Horn

I just bought a 1978 pickup and the only thing holding me back on passing inspection is the horn. I can’t find where the horn is in the actual engine compartment. All this truck was original from what I can tell if that helps.

Did you check behind the grille? It might be there. If not there, check behind the bumper.

yeah I briefly checked both places. I’m going to check again after I get off work. It’s just kinda of mind boggling. I also can’t find it in any books I have. They just say it could be two different types.

I would look for a loose wire in the engine compartment, behind grille, and behind front bumper. Someone must have removed the original horn. The original horn wasn't very loud. If it was mine, I'd buy two new horns and mount those up. Running a wire to the new horn is easy. On my 81 I put air horns.

Found the horn. Going to replace with similar horn. I just need to pass inspection. So if I can get it going with a cheap one for right now that’s going to get me by I’m good with it.

It was behind the grill and under the headlight. Just sorta tucked in there. Couldn’t see it from the top or bottom. It was the original horn too.
