16 in. Rims on 1st gen trucks

Is there such a thing as 16 inch rims for my 1982 toyota 4x4 truck? I was wondering if they exist or is it a dumb question?

please fill me in or tell me you finally found they last guy on earth that doesn't know the answer to that.

Yes dumb question, but yes you can buy 16in. rims for a first gen. I had Tundra rims on my 1986 4 runner and they looked good.

Typically IFS rims don't fit on SFA without wheel spacers.

I did some research on this myself. I want to get duratracs in 35's so I gotta go to 16's. You want a 6 on 5.5 pattern with a MAX of 3 3/8" backspacing or wheel spacers to make up the diff. At least that's what my research on here tells me. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me before I buy the wheels.

Your truck will explode if you put 16" rims on it.

Seriously, yes they should fit fine. It's just a different rim diameter, bigger typically means more space. It also gives you clearance to do the tacoma or tundra brake swap (fror or sky sells the kit i believe).

IFS rims on a SA truck generally require spacers up front as mentioned.
I have 1 St Gen 4runner SR5 alloys that will not fit my 81 with out spacers and an ifs steel rim that need a spacer.
My 05 Tacoma rims would not fit with out the use of spacers.

1 St Gen IFS 4runner owner's please remember there is another 1 St Gen out there...

That's what happened to m... hey, what?

I have 16s on my truck. Pics are in the pic thread, probably on the last page or two as I put them up pretty recently.
