Finding the best OEM replacement parts

Hey Guys, not a review, but a general question ABOUT reviews.

Right now, as an example, I am trying to replace my water pump. I have used US Auto Parts in the past to buy parts, so that is the site I am currently searching. Specifically, I am looking for a water pump for a 1991 3VZE Pickup. For that engine alone, there are at least 8 brands that manufacture the exact same part:
  • Aisin
  • DNJ
  • A1 Cardone
  • Bosch
  • ACDelco
  • Beck Arnley
  • Replacement
  • GMB

How am I supposed to know which one to pick? They never have reviews on any car parts site that I have been on, and my Google searching has not found much information on any of these brands as a whole. I also don't have a relationship with a "trusted mechanic", of whom I can ask a professional opinion.

Is there any compendium you have come across that tries to broadly rate the brands as being 'good' or 'bad'?

Thanks for any advice!

Jason

In general, OEM parts are manufactured by Aisin for mechanical and Denso for electrical. There are some exceptions to this, but it's a good rule of thumb.

Go with the Aisin...I would not put any of the others on my truck.
