These sell for under $35 on Amazon, and you can broadcast on MURS radio stations at 1 watt. These are far better than CB for vehicle to vehicle communications without having to be blown off the air by local truckers CB traffic.

You can only operate these on the MURS frequencies unless you have a commercial license.

 

MURS stands for Multi Use Radio Service.

These 5 channels can be used by the public at 1 watt:
151.820
151.880
151.940
154.570
154.600

 

The last two frequencies have wider bands and operate best. Our club has been using these and are getting distances line of sight up to 6 miles with great clarity.

 

Thanks for info! I've had one of these for years and been too lazy to get the commercial license. I didn't know there were channels that could be used without a license!
