94 toyota pikup 3.0 v6 bogging when going up hills

i have a 1994 toyota pickup v6 i just got done putting a new engine in it. It ran good for 2 days then going up steep hills i would have to shift down to second it has no power my engine light came on to it was code 71 i replaced the egr then it went away but i still have no power it barely goes up hills i will start at 55mph by the time i get to the top i will be going almost 35mph please help thanks

I'd start by checking for vacuum leaks, that cel code 71 does NOT necessarily mean the egr was bad, if you have a vacuum leak, that can cause the 71, and WILL cause loss of power.
