Rubicon weekend
All right, I finally broke my 4Runners cherry and put the new sliders to work
Didn't break anything save for the rear bumper and a dent in the tailgate. Had alot good people, good times, good wheeling and managed not to get a wicked hangover.
We had jeeps Yotas Samis and ran into some Lexus/bling Cruiser people..(Who looked at us nervously as we instructed then the way to go without carnage..)Anyhow nuff said, here's the link

Didn't do the whole trail yet, just up by Ellis creek. The first day we went out Wentworth springs which had its challenges and the next day we went out Gatekeeper or whats left of it. I have a 2 inch lift and a Truetrac in back, and 33's. I had some good spotting and I use common sense. I have a straight axle for the front that I will swap out soon when I have the hardware. Then I will go the whole 9 yards although I could prob do it now but not without some help.
If you have seat time and pick your lines anything is possible. Lets not forget good friends and spotters either!
Cheers
Tom G
PS We are headed up again on the 16th if your in the area, Stop by Robbs Resort!

The Rubicon (Loon Lake to Tahoma) is doable in an equipped (locked, skids, sliders, winch) IFS rig. (Er, well it was in '03 when I ran it in my Pathfinder.) An equipped 4Runner should have no problems at all. Patience, endurance (3 days minumum), and as mentioned, "seat time" and picking good lines are essential.
Don't let the 'con scare you away if you don't have a solid front axle. Where there's a will, there's a way.

But Seat Time and listening to your spotter(having a good one) are prime. for IFS rigs armor is crucial for your underside.
Hope to see ya out there this summer! Cheers
