So your general conclusion is that the six-shooter knuckles aren't really needed?

I ask because I've recently destroyed my tie rod and bashed the axle. I was thinking about just going with crossover steering and splurging for the six-shooters to be extra strong (my knuckles are not damaged, just not sure what they can take). I probably won't ever go with tires larger than 35" or so.

(Don't mean to steal the thread, the question just fit right in!)

As for the six shooters. I dont have any thing against them. I just want people to understand that most knuckle failures are do to poor maintenance. As for your situation you definatly dont need them IMO. Crossover steering with fj80 TRE's is a VERY strong setup. this accident was proof to that!! The steering saw most of the hit and it is still perfect. plus I run hydro assist so the steering was caught between a 3000lb ram and and a 50mph hole. put the $ somewhere else

Glad it's all back together.

Thanks for the input on the knuckles.
