northern az rez wheelin 4/25 & 4/26

So i had a weird weekend. Got stuck twice and pulled by two different jeeps twice. First time for me. But it was good and fun weekend full of good wheelin. Saturday we headed to Navajo Mountain and Sunday we were near Grand Canyon but still on the reservation.

We almost made it to the top of the mountain but ran into a patch of snow that was half a tire deep and i ended up with the rear diff high centered. My aunts Jeep Liberty took awhile but eventually pulled me out. So that means another trip to the mountain is comin up.

Sunday a buddy and i went to this wash that we had gone to before but didnt get to fully explore it so we went back and found a route and went for it. I ended up breakin a CV axle which eleminated 4wheel drive and had to get pulled out. After that we just decided to head to the canyon to look around. Turned out be a good day and good weekend.

Saturday:

made it to the bottom and headed towards piute canyon and piute mesa and onto shonto which was the end of the dirt road. it was dark by the time we got into shonto.

dropping into piute canyon

the view from the top of piute mesa towards lake powell

the view towards monument valley from the top of piute mesa

Sunday:

broken cv axle

got out safely and headed to grand canyon

little colorado river and main colorado river junction

The End.

Awesome pics wished I lived out there.

looks like you had a great time. Sucks about the broken CV axle.

and are you locked in the rear or front?

and what is with the hood of the jeep

however you should stay away from chains. I would suggest getting a nice strap

cool pic's, bummer about the CV'. glad to hear you are getting straps.
If you do end up having to use a chain though it's a good idea to put a blanket or old jacket over it, in case it breaks it helps eliminate backlash.

Nope.

I was there for about a year doing missionary work in Montezuma Creek, Bluff and Mexican Hat. Taking 2wd dodge dakota's and ford rangers places they shouldn't have been.

You should be able to tell pretty easily if it's a CV. Just get under the truck and look at/examine it. If it appears to be all in one piece, check the joints as sometimes it breaks in the boot and the boot contains the pieces. If it's a shaft break, it should be pretty easy to tell that.

Nice pics of the Canyon.

WOW. Unreal!

Just bumping an AWESOME string of pics. Very nicely done. That 2-track pic leading to the Grand Canyon-- one of the Wonders of the World-- is just un-friggin' believable. Awesome.

just watched the vid... looks like you got caught on the driver's side front by that large "step" boulder/outcrop... everything else seemed good...
