Norcal Labor Day weekend trip pics

Treknwil and I met up Saturday and caravaned up Hwy 4 to run the Sourgrass trail. It's a nice little trail that runs about 2.5 miles up a creek. It's pretty easy for the most part but it has a few challenging sections. After that we jammed up Hwy 4 and cut over to Hwy 88 and camped at the start of the Strawberry trail. Jokeplayer and his friend in a jeep met us up there about midnight Saturday night. Sunday we ran the Strawberry trail. I didn't take a whole lot of pics but here are some of the better ones.

First a Thanks to UKMyers(Joey)for the invite and spotting. Had a great time meet some nice guys and gals and had fun wheeling with them. Sourgrass was short but still fun and Strawberry was a lot of fun. Here are some pic and I'm working on getting vids up.

I'd be a little afraid to try this one, I've had little stubs on tree trunks puncture straight through running shoes before. I'd imagine they could do the same to a tire. Looks like a fun trip. Reading this makes me want to go back out to my garage and get my 4runner running again. It's been a month and I'm having withdrawls.

True but some of those stubs are like knives, well at least the one that went straight through that shoe and into my friends foot.

Pics coming soon.... here are some teasers. After Joey and Will took off, the XJ and myself decided to go camp at Utica Reservoir. Wow. It was beautiful. In the morning we went to Slickrock and ran as much as we could. Swimming in the lake ended our awesome trip.

We decided that swimming sounded like the best way to spend monday and since Harvey had been to Utica before wee headed there and found a SWEET camping spot over looking Union Lake. We ran Slickrock from Union Lake towards Lake Alpine... and we made it up to the last obstacle before the stream crossing. We talked to some folks coming up that obstacle and they said it was the last hard obstacle before the climb up slickrock itself. It was a blast to run the part we did.

Thanks for the invite Joey. Everyone had a blast! I'll get some more pics up hopefully tonight after class.

Joey, I think I figured out the flashes we saw Saturday night. I think they may have been from Burning Man light show.

Hey Will, it was a blast to meet you and wheel with you. I'll let you know when we get out again and please do the same!

That would be crazy if the flashes you guys saw was from Burning Man! I know it's somewhere in the Nevada desert... but I don't know how close they do it to the CA border.

If the fire is as tall as I think it is, you'll be able to see it for quite a distance.

Hey $800 Brother , It was nice meeting you too. I definitely will let you know when I go again. As for burning man on the way home down 50, cars where passing covered with white dust on them. So it must be pretty close.
