Monument Valley area - AZ/UTAH

this is my first thread cause i finally figured out how to post pictures, so they're kinda small. cheap. oh well. this trail starts from the road 6450 between kayenta and monument valley. i was tryin to get to navajo mountian but didnt work out. the road just comes to a dead end and you have go back the same way. its about 25 miles and takes about 3 hours. there is a lot more to see and other roads everywhere. its pretty easy, but fun.

the start of a canyon

a rock

thats my mom

finally out of the canyon

great shot of monument valley. its awesome to see this in person

this is from the top of some mesa

this hill was steep but cool

this was steep and fun too

wouldve taken more pics, but it got dark. but there is way more to see.

Wow looks like a pretty cool spot. That shot of monument valley is awesome, I don't think i've ever seen a picture looking down on it like that. Definately something I need to check out. Did you need any special permits?

nope no permits. theres a lot of elderly people that actually live around there so you can pretty much go wherever you want.

Several years ago, OK, more than ten, I attended a wedding at Pinion. The groom's family were from the area near Naatsis'áán - it took them almost 8 hours to get to Pinion! That is some remote beautiful country...

Nice report and pictures! 25 miles worth, plus other forks, of that stuff would be great. So, you said it got dark on you. I think you should go back and get some more. You live close enough!

By the looks of it, this road stays south of the Utah border, huh? Do you have any map references that show exactly where this road starts? I was unsuccessful with my searches.

thanx man. yeah i wanna go back sometime. the road goes into utah. the map i used is the "delorme arizona atlas and gazetteer". its a good map, but the road on the map ended cause it went into utah. so most of the way i wasnt sure where i was going and part of the road isnt on the map also when it goes back into arizona.
