Carnage Canyon

Carnage Canyon
This was the most difficult trail I've done to the day. Its rated around difficult to extreme. I went with a friend in his wrangler, which did great except for engine problems..... jeep. The trail is located 10 minutes outside of Boulder and is fairly short. My 4runners underside got pretty beat up: scratched bumpers, scratched front lower A arms, bent and scratched front skid plates, a perfect crease bend in my t-case skid, huge dent in gas tank skid, rear control arm housings are trashed, rear diff scratched up, sliders finally got used A LOT, and more. The belly of the 4runner hangs so low, I got high centered a few times. I also almost rolled once, but had someone jump on my slider to weight it down. Dont you hate when your spotter says "if it starts to roll, get out!!!" I also scratched my rear fenders on a tree and a boulder but it didnt do much damage. I could really use 35's, a front locker, and some body damage so I dont have to be so scared. The trail goes up a creek in the canyon so everything is slippery and fun. I encounterd some huge yotas and buggys up there that said I was crazy for bringing my runner up there.... I'm starting to believe them. I dont have many pictures of my runner because I was too busy piling rocks and smashing metal.

Right on Larry.
That pic where your belly is on the rock looks like it was time for the CV's to break with that much wheel speed.
The other Carnge is the real nasty one. Like don't do it with sheetmetal.

Haha, glad ya'll like them. I wasnt too worried about breaking a CV joint in the picture where I was spinning my tires since I'm not locked in the front. Should I be worried? Adrian, have you ever ran this trail? If not, we should go sometime. I heard its really fun when covered in snow.

You CAN still break a CV if you are open. When you spin the front wheels and one suddenly catches they will break. Look around on here I know a few people have broken CV's with an open front diff.
You carry a trail spare though, right?

Spinning wheels break parts. You are lucky that did not grab all of the sudden.
I have not done it, but want to. My understanding is to hit it early and that is stays relatively snow free.
