Break in run in WV
Finally got a 4runner of my own and I couldn't be happier. Its a 97 5speed, 6 cylinder, no locking diff or anything special, but I love it. Had to drive 5 hours each way to get it.
Within 24 hours of my buying it, we were on the trails. I was absolutely amazed by what it could do. I went to some local trails with a few friends (red tacoma and white jeep) all stock vehicles aside from the BFG A/Ts on all of em. Ended up spending 5 hours on the trail and the 4runner didnt even think about slowing down anywhere aside from where I almost caught my punkin on a rock... but there were so many scrapes on it, I knew it was coming. Anyways... onto the pics
The one crossing the rocky stream was very dissapointing... it didnt do it justice at all. I'll just have to go back and get better pics.

Yeah, I'm in morgantown. We need to get together sometime. Wonder Falls was the only trail I knew of and boy have I got some stories...
My friends and I absolutely fell in love with those falls, and we have been out there quite a few times. Well, this last trip out there, in the picture of the jeep coming up the hill, you can see a guy on a yellow 4wheeler. Thats the land owner... I had no idea it was private property. But he stopped us and talked to us about people going back in there. After carrying on with him for a good long while, he realized we were on his side of the whole thing and he was tired of people trashing his land. So he said its probably best not to come back. He mentioned something about being part of the "Mountaineer Militia" so my friends and I came back and looked it up... this is what we found: http://www.adl.org/mwd/mountain.asp
While we were out there, he got onto us for not having firearms too he said you never know who's lurking in the shadows and recommended we cary some "firepower."
He let us continue our ride for the day and we met up with him again at the falls, which is when he told us about Beaver Hole which is probably the trail you dont recognize. Its pretty nice down in the bottom (the picture of the calm green river) and the trail is a little more technical and a lot longer. Anyways... the story goes on, but thats just to let you know that Wonder Falls is no longer the safest place to be, which just breaks my heart because I loved it there.

Oh, and Cootees, my dad lives in Roanoke, as well as a friend of mine who goes to WVU with me. He has a yellow Xterra, so I will try to let you know if I'm down in your neck of the woods, I'd love to find some trails around there if you know of any.

Oh, nice. Is it a pretty large cave? I'd love to go see it sometime. I love spelunking, and I havn't been in so long. Sounds like you know a lot more about the area than I do. We definately need to hook up sometime, I see I have a lot to learn. What are you getting into this weekend?

Since you're in WV, I suggest maybe checking out Mountaineer Offroad. There used to be a Tacoma/Toyota club there, but it ended up being closed due to everyone going to that club. Its got a diverse group of people and would be worth checking out. I never really got to do much wheeling when I lived in WV though. Wish I had though.

Beaverhole is the largest cave in mon. county. It is big enough to get lost in if your not careful but not huge.
We should meet up sometime send me a PM. I have a caving convention to go to this weekend in Greenbrier co. so i will be out of town this weekend. If you are interested in caving come check out the WVU student grotto we meet wednesday nights at 8:00pm in 304 whitehall.
Cootees: that 4x4icon site is pretty good. I haad never heard of it before. After visiting it i realized I just met the guy who runs it this past weekend. His kid's sitter lies in my basement.

Although it seems alot of his recent trail reviews are geocaching related. I love the fact that he records everything and offers the gps location for the trails on his site.
