keep me posted on the FR-42. I have not been up near bartlet lake yet. Before it gets too hot but after the water dries (only a little) I'd like to run the Agua Caliente Extension road, starts in Arlington, and ends up down near sentinal on I-8, my master plan is to do that and see if I can pick up some desert sweet shrimp from the shrimp farms near Gila Bend on the way back to phoenix.
Anyone driven that road? since it is on the map it is most likely tame, but it looks like it goes through some cool areas, scenic and all.

Will probably take up the better part of a day. There are some other roads that peel off before getting to sentinel, and they go by the painted rock wildlife area. one of these little roads crosses the Gila river, which might be a little dicey for a while.
Would all this bantor be considered a highjack?

The lunch is over, this is fine. There is also the old Butterfield Stage trail out by Gila Bend. What the Wells Fargo stage used to run on.
It's all real easy stuff, but would be a nice trek none the less.

I used to hunt along that road a few years ago. Take a GPS, trail isnt marked well as you get closer to Hyder and its easy to take unmarked offshoots. Its a trip through the desert and most of it is gravel Maintenanced by a grader, once "in a month of Sundays".
I dont remember ever using 4x4 on it ? I think there was a section going along a sandy wash.
The area around Painted Rock is pretty this year, now that everything is so green out there.
Id double check on the Shrimp Farm, hours etc. I went by there a few weeks ago and there was a big PUBLIC NOTICE sign out front.
have fun
