Talking AZ - Chivo Falls Oct 03 (first run for 4Runner)

Memorial Day 2004, I went and bought this cherry, low mileage, never offroaded 99 4Runner "highlander".

Been planning/working on it all Summer, spending lots of time waiting on parts to show up, and deciding what suspension and tires etc..... Lucky for me SSchaefer3 had lots of advice and experience to guide me through the stuff I couldnt make up my mind on, and today I did my first real trail run. I really didnt intend for this 4Runner to be a frequent trail machine, my main focus is as a hunting truck, but its nice to "know your boundaries"

NorthEast of Tucson AZ someplace is a 3.5 trail known as Chivo Falls, and I joined some really nice folks of the AZ VJC for a run. (Ill try to keep the J@@P pics to a minimum so as not freak anyone out )

Here we are dropping down to 3 Feathers "play area" (notice the white Unlimited )

ahhh, just a little rut

say, this is a little more involved than it looks...

too late to turn back now...

one of Steves favorite photo shots here, not quite flexed all the way...

in a small play area...

for being a modded 3rd gen, I feel/look so... "stock" compared to these guys

after 6 hours... and going UP the way we came in, heres the last bit before we hit graded road again.

Great Run, I did all the hard lines and only banged my skid plate once (Driver error). Front locker would have been nice a couple of times, should be a pic floating around where I only have 2 wheels on the ground, Ill post it if I remember.

Thanks RTdawgs... I should clarify a little, its the first run for the 4Runner. I will say that I did learn how fricken awesome it is to have a Locker in the rear.

as far as adds/mods... thanks! ( its the hood scoop )

I took some lines that a couple of the Jeeps bypassed but I wouldnt say I keeled any of them, hahaha There some othe Toyotas out running around, a 2nd gen 4runner, a few P/U with the doors off, and 1 Tacoma. Everyone was having a good time.

Kinda wish I had some video clips
