Apex road

well a few of us ran started out to run Rollins Pass, but, ended up being about 9 or 10 vehicles, and wound up running Apex Road, talk about a great time.
we all met at Dennys for some chow, then headed out, snow was deep, and alot of it, after a few hours or snow wheeling, a few of the guys had to head back, sorry I didnt get many pics.
heres a group shot after half left.

heres a nice view

well just after they left, and Im not real sure just what happened, as i was stuck, or the Politically Correct term: Forward Mobilty Impaired myself. I look over for Chris, and this is what i see.

no one was hurt, and Chris is a real trooper, this kid LOVES snow wheeling, lol
so Corey and the Nissan (cant remember his name, sorry.) pulled him back on all fours

Doug, and Chris will post up later.
what a day... cant wait to get back up there.

What a great run! This is by far my biggest experience with snow wheeling. I never thought it would be so much fun. Kind of freaky though, still learning what to do to maintain control(and how to loose it).
Heading through the mountains in formation.

I can't believe he got this far in. Took two trucks to pull him out.

The main focus of the trip was getting up this hill. We kept taking turns slowly plowing a path through the deep snow. You just had to charge it, back off and charge it again.

I was the first to the top.

Getting stuck is the name of the game. Here we pulled out the jeep in the middle with two trucks.

That little guy in the red is ric. Yea I know you thought he was somebody's little boy or a small asian or something...

It was a really good turnout. We had a pretty diverse crowd. Mostly toys but we also had a stock nissan pickup, a rubicon, and a cherokee.

Some beautiful terrain.

Showing off my good side for the last time.

Then this happened.

How?!

Well I was hauling ass down this hill (cause I'm retarded) and I decided it would be fun to plow into a thick drift on the side of the road (cause I'm retarded). When I turned the pass side dug in quick and kept me turning, which put me at a 90 degree angle to all my momentum. My driver tires dug in and my pass front went up the hill a bit and over I went.

Just for the record I was not and have never been drunk in my entire life...

This is the group photo right after the flop, it happened on the hill behind us.

This pic just cracks me up cause I have a milk mustache from the flop.

It's hard to see all the damage with the snow but the door is totally pushed in(window still works) and each fender is pushed in. Not to many creases and really no other damage. No severe fluid leaks(tiny bit of powersteering) and no mechanical breakage. Not too bad at all.

Great day wheeling, met some cool new people with some great trucks. Had a blast wheeling in the snow, even when I layed it over(not a first for me).

Can't wait for next week!

yes it was a blast, and some cool new people, its funny, how it can be so cold up there, and 45 minutes down the hill, it was 60, lol.
my hats off to you Chris, you taken the flop extremely well, but as I always say, trucks can be replaced, you cant.

EDIT: welcome back to the net, lol

Chirs you Rolled it. At least it wasn't off the edge like it almost was last time. Good thing you were alright and the runner is still somewhat good.

Dude, how do you manage this sort of thing?

Gravity must be different in Colorado.

Pics look great.

I don't have tires that stick out 6"+ on each side. Maybe I should eh?
I think you're right though, gravity in co is more slanted than texas. Everytime I get close...its all over.
